In 2000, when I was living in Provo, UT for the first time, I heard good things about a restaurant called Dal Fornello. My brother and I went to try it out. The food was incredible, but what really struck me that night was the story our server told us about the owners; how they had immigrated from Italy with a desire to live their religion more fully. I wanted others to hear their story but I soon moved home to California. Last December when I moved back, sadly, I found the restaurant had closed. Soon thereafter I ran into the once-owner, Silvia, who was now working in the Provo LDS temple cafeteria. I asked her for an interview. A story took shape through that and other conversations that was more challenging, profound and universal than I had expected.
